Update to Our DAISY Read Collection

We are excited to share that we have recently made improvements to our DAISY CD-Audiobook collection to make it easier to browse and search by genre. These updates are designed to improve accessibility and help DAISY users find titles that match their interests more easily. The DAISY CD-Audiobooks were produced and distributed by the Centre for Equitable Library Access, but they have discontinued the service, so no new discs will be added to the DAISY collection.

What Is a DAISY Reader?

DAISY stands for Digital Accessible Information System. DAISY books are designed for people with print disabilities, including blindness, low vision, and dyslexia. You can borrow a DAISY reader from our collection.

A DAISY reader can be software or a dedicated device that plays DAISY books. Unlike standard audiobooks, DAISY books offer structured navigation. Readers can jump easily between chapters, pages, or sections, making it much simpler to find information, re-read favourite parts, or follow along at their own pace. DAISY discs will only play in a DAISY reader, not a regular CD player.

What’s New in the Collection?

Adult DAISY CD-Audiobooks have now been re-packaged and re-catalogued by genre. Each case contains books from a single genre, making it easier to browse and discover new reads.

You can still search for titles by author or title, but you can now also search by genre in our catalogue.

Many of the newly catalogued DAISY titles are already available to place on hold and check out.

How to Find DAISY Reader Books

You can browse or search the DAISY collection through our catalogue by author, title, or genre. If you need help finding DAISY materials or using a DAISY reader, library staff are always happy to assist.
