Upcoming Changes to Our Digital Library in December

At Kawartha Lakes Public Library (KLPL), we are always working hard to offer you the best Digital Library possible, while also ensuring our digital resources are sustainable and accessible to everyone. To balance increasing demand and costs for our different digital products, we are making a few changes to our Digital Library this month.

Upcoming Changes

We regularly review all of our resources to ensure they provide strong value, deliver a great user experience, and remain sustainable. As part of that ongoing evaluation, KLPL has made the decision to discontinue CreativeBug, Kanopy and LawDepot after December 19, 2025.

Why We’re Making These Changes:

Several factors have led us to cancel our subscriptions to these three digital services: low usage, increased subscription costs, and U.S. dollar billing.

Ending our subscriptions to these services allows us to reinvest in our current digital platforms that will expand access to popular titles and information.

Alternative Resources you can Explore:

• Flipster: Browse our digital magazines, including several Crafting and DIY titles
• Hoopla: Current and classic films, tv series, educational programming, and documentaries
• Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO): clear, accurate, and practical legal information to help people understand and exercise their legal rights
• Legal Line: provides easy-to-understand Canadian legal answers written in plain language
