This October, read her story
“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” — L. M. Montgomery
October is full of wonderful things: colourful foliage, delicious fall flavours, cozy sweaters making their annual appearance, and, for many, the perfect weather for reading.
But did you know that October is also Women’s History Month in Canada?
Every October, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of women and girls who have shaped Canada’s past, are making a difference today, and are helping to build our future. The Government of Canada officially designated October as Women’s History Month in 1992.
This month, read her story. Pick up a book by or about an extraordinary woman. Discover the story of a Canadian woman whose contributions you may not know. Explore the Government of Canada’s Women of Impact in Canada gallery to discover the remarkable women and girls who have shaped Canadian history.
You can also ask someone in your family about a woman who made a difference in their life. Her story might be one you have never heard before.
