Radon Detectors Available to Borrow
Protect your home and health. Kawartha Lakes Public Library has digital radon detectors available to borrow again. Testing is the only way to know if radon levels in your home are high.
About Radon: Radon is an invisible, odourless gas that can build up indoors and is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in Canada.
How to Borrow:
- Radon detectors have a six (6) week loan period (not renewable).
- Place the detector in your home for at least 30 days
- Radon detectors are available between October 1 to March 31
- Place a hold in the library catalogue and pick up at your local branch
Returns: Detectors can be returned to any library branch during opening hours.
Why Test? Radon levels vary widely, even between homes nearby. Health Canada recommends action if levels exceed 200 Bq/m³. Borrow a detector and make sure your indoor air is safe.
