New to the Library of Things: Spotting Scope Kits

Get a closer look at the birds around you! Two new Spotting Scope and Tripod Kits have been added to our Library of THINGS - Active Living Collection, thanks to a generous donation from Bird-Friendly Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes.

Each kit includes a National Geographic Spektar 20–60x 60mm spotting scope with a mini tripod, perfect for observing birds and other wildlife in greater detail. You’ll also find a Tracklife camera tripod with an adapter for mounting your smartphone. Its adjustable height and three-way head let you pan, tilt and swivel to find the perfect viewing angle.

Whether you’re observing birds at your feeder, exploring local trails or taking part in a bird count, these kits offer a new way to connect with nature.

Thank You, Bird-Friendly PTBO and Kawartha Lakes

Bird-Friendly Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to saving bird lives through local action. As part of a growing movement to create Bird-Friendly Cities across Canada, the organization helps communities learn how to protect birds and make a difference in their own backyards.

They have also donated some Bird Watching Kits, which include everything you need to observe birds at home or in the wild. Borrow a kit to participate in annual bird count surveys or take on your own personal bird-spotting challenge.

Their support extends beyond donations. Bird-Friendly PTBO and Kawartha Lakes also partners with the library to help our community learn about birds through educational presentations and hands-on children’s workshops, including bird feeder crafting.

We are grateful for their continued partnership and commitment to helping our community discover, learn about and protect local wildlife.
