Making Water Safety Accessible for Everyone
Borrow a Life Jacket and Stay Safe on the Water This Summer
Spend more time enjoying the water this summer and less time worrying about finding the right safety equipment. Kawartha Lakes Public Library is pleased to offer free life jacket lending at the Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, and Lindsay branches.
Available to library patrons, residents of Kawartha Lakes, and visitors to the area, this service helps ensure that everyone can safely enjoy the lakes, rivers, and waterways that make Kawartha Lakes such a popular destination.
Promoting Water Safety Through Community Partnerships
This initiative is made possible through a partnership between Kawartha Lakes Public Library and the City of Kawartha Lakes Recreation Centres. Together, we are helping promote water safety awareness and remove barriers to accessing essential safety equipment.
Whether you are planning a family outing, a day of paddling, fishing from a dock, or spending time at the cottage, wearing a properly fitted life jacket is one of the simplest and most effective ways to stay safe on the water.
To further support water safety education, the library is also hosting two Safe In and Around the Water programs this summer. Designed for children and their parents or guardians, these sessions help families learn essential skills for staying safe wherever water is part of the fun.
Participants will explore important safety practices for pools, lakes, rivers, and boating, while gaining practical knowledge on preventing accidents, recognizing hazards, and making smart choices around water.
Upcoming sessions include:
- Bobcaygeon Branch – Wednesday, July 29, 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
- Lindsay Branch – Tuesday, August 4, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
