Evict Radon! Free Radon Testing Kits at the Library.
The Kawartha Lakes Public Library is partnering with Lakelands Public Health to distribute 50 free radon test kits to the community this December. Community members who receive a kit agree to be a part of the study, set up the device for at least 91 days, and then send the kit (pre-paid envelope included) to be analyzed. Test kits are available for free on a “first come, first served” basis.
What is Radon?
Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium found in rocks and soil, and is in every home in Canada. It’s the #1 cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. You can't smell, taste or see radon. But it's easy to test for and easy to reduce to safe levels.
Where can I get a Kit?
Starting December 16, 2025 you can pickup a free radon test kit at the following library branches
- Bobcaygeon Library Branch – 123 East St South, Bobcaygeon
- Fenelon Falls Library Branch – 19 Market St, Fenelon Falls
- Lindsay Library Branch – 190 Kent St S, Lindsay
