Celebrating 150 Years of Bobcaygeon
Step back in time and discover the rich history of Bobcaygeon through the people, places, and stories that have shaped the community we know today.
As part of a day-long community celebration on Saturday, June 13, 2026, marking the 150th anniversary of Bobcaygeon’s incorporation, Kawartha Lakes Public Library is partnering with the City of Kawartha Lakes Archivist and Heritage Development Office to present a special local history event showcasing fascinating photographs, documents, and stories from Bobcaygeon’s past.
This program is one of many activities taking place throughout the village to commemorate this important milestone in the community’s history.
Explore Bobcaygeon's Past
Join us from 11am to 12pm for a presentation featuring historical photographs and archival materials that highlight significant moments, landmarks, and individuals from Bobcaygeon’s past.
The City Archivist, Heritage Development Office, and the Library’s Reference Specialist will share insights into how these records help preserve and tell the story of our community. Attendees will learn about the important role archives and local history collections play in safeguarding our shared heritage and discover ways they can help preserve local history for future generations.
Historical Displays Throughout the Branch
Visitors can continue their journey through Bobcaygeon’s history by exploring special displays throughout the branch.
A display case featuring historical artifacts and memorabilia will be on exhibit throughout the week, offering a unique look at items connected to the community's past.
Historical photographs will also be displayed until July 31, 2026, allowing visitors to browse and enjoy images from Bobcaygeon’s history at their own pace while taking part in the wider anniversary celebrations happening throughout the village. Many of the photographs featured in the exhibit have also been highlighted on our social media channels.
Community members are encouraged to join the conversation by commenting on these posts to help keep local history alive for future generations. Share your memories, help identify people or places, and add your own stories and connections to the images.
