Calling All Teachers! Bring the Library to Your Classroom

As an educator, you know the importance of giving students opportunities to explore, discover, and connect with learning in meaningful ways. Kawartha Lakes Public Library is here to support you with resources, programs, and services designed to complement classroom learning and enrich your students’ experiences.

Bring Your Class to the Library

Plan a class visit to one of our 14 branches and help your students discover what their public library has to offer.

During a visit, students can:

  • Discover books, digital resources, and other library materials
  • Learn how to find information and use library resources
  • Practice research and information skills
  • Learn how to ask questions and find reliable answers
  • Build confidence using the library independently

We can also create custom lessons based on your classroom needs, including library procedures, research skills, and how to make the most of our resources. These lessons help students build confidence as learners while showing them how the library can support them throughout their lives.

A library visit is about more than learning how to find a book; it is an opportunity for students to build a connection with an important community resource.

A class trip to the library is a simple and free way to introduce your students to the community they live in. For some students and families, the public library and its 14 branches across Kawartha Lakes may be a resource they have not yet discovered or fully explored.

By introducing students to the library, educators help open the door to free access to books, technology, programs, learning opportunities, and community connections that extend well beyond the classroom.

These experiences encourage students to see the library as a welcoming place where they can continue to learn, explore their interests, and grow as independent learners.
