Bring Your Voice to the Library Board

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community?

The Kawartha Lakes Public Library is looking for residents who are passionate about public libraries, understand community needs, respect diverse perspectives, and are interested in helping shape the future of library services.

The Library Board plays a vital role in providing strategic leadership and governance for the library. Board members help ensure that library services continue to meet the evolving needs of our community and remain accessible, innovative, and responsive for years to come.

Serving on the Library Board is an opportunity to contribute to important community initiatives, bring your knowledge and perspective to the table, and help make a difference in the communities we serve.

The library recognizes that valuable contributions come from a wide range of professional, personal, and lived experiences. You don't need to be a library expert to serve on the Board. We welcome residents who are passionate about their community, interested in public libraries, open to different perspectives, and able to commit to active participation in Board and committee meetings.

What is the commitment?

Library Board members are expected to:

• Attend 8 regular Library Board meetings annually and participate actively in discussions and decision-making.
• Review meeting materials in advance and come prepared to participate.
• Take an interest in the library and the communities we serve.
• Work collaboratively with other Board members, Library staff, and community partners.
• Participate in training and learning opportunities related to Board governance and responsibilities.

Library Board members are appointed by City of Kawartha Lakes Council and will begin their four-year term following appointment in December 2026.
