Back to School with Kawartha Lakes Public Library
Kawartha Lakes, ON — August 2025
As students head back to school or begin their learning journey at home, the library is here to support every step.
For young learners, explore our 100 Books to Read before Kindergarten checklist to inspire early literacy and a lifelong love of reading.
Busy families try our Grab and Go Bags. Each bag contains five themed children’s books, picture books, easy readers, and non-fiction. Themes include favourites like animals, science, and more!
For school-age kids and teens, our Digital Library offers online literacy tools, and educational games. Teens can join the Kawartha Youth Writers’ Guild, sign up for our Teen Subscription Box, which is exclusively for teens (ages 13-17) and is released four times a year in spring, summer, fall, and winter.
A library card is the ultimate back-to-school supply! Kids under 16 can sign up with a parent or guardian for full borrowing privileges.
Teachers and educators! Invite us to your classroom or bring your students to the library! We offer school and daycare visits with storytimes, STEM programs, digital library introductions, and more.
Try our Early Literacy and STEAM Kits for hands-on learning fun! Early Literacy Kits build reading skills, and STEAM Kits explore science, tech, art, and math. Perfect for at-home learning for all ages.
