Summer Reading Club 2025 | By the Numbers

We had an incredible summer at the Kawartha Lakes Public Library! Our 2025 Summer Reading Club: Around the World was a huge success, bringing together readers of all ages for a season filled with books, creativity, and global exploration.

This summer, participants travelled the globe through stories, crafts, and hands-on fun without ever leaving the library! From ocean adventures, crafts and special community events, every week offered something new to discover.

By the Numbers:

• 184,665 minutes read by young, enthusiastic readers.
• 750 participants joined the Summer Reading Club program.
• 178 new library cards were issued this summer.
• 45% increase in attendance compared to last year.

Our programs and events were busier than ever!

• 9,516 total program attendees.
• 1,415 at staff-led programs.
• 748 community members took part in City of Kawartha Lakes partnered events, including Touch a Truck, Storytime with a Lifeguard, and more.
• 2,442 attendees joined in for Weekly Crafts and Hands-On Fun.
• 900 Take-Home activity packs distributed.
• 660 attendees explored our Ocean Immersive Experience.
• 308 community members connected through outreach programs such as Pop-Up Storytime, in-branch Storytime, and other community events.

Every story shared, craft created, and new friend made helped make this summer one to remember. Thank you to everyone who participated, our dedicated staff, and our wonderful community partners for helping us make Around the World such a success!

The fun doesn’t stop here. We are already preparing for our 2026 Summer Reading Club! A new theme is on the way, and we can’t wait to share what we have in store for another great summer. Stay tuned for exciting updates as we get ready for a summer filled with reading, imagination, and adventure!
