Life Jackets

Stay safe while enjoying Kawartha Lakes’ beautiful waterways! The library offers life jackets to borrow during the summer season through a partnership with City of Kawartha Lakes Parks and Recreation.

Life jackets are available for a seven-day loan period on a first-come, first-served basis.

Available Locations

Life jackets can be borrowed from the following branches:

  • Bobcaygeon
  • Fenelon Falls
  • Lindsay

Sizes Available

Life jackets come in four sizes:

  • Infant (9-14kg or 20-30lbs)
  • Child (14-27kg or 30-60lbs)
  • Youth (27-41kg or 60-90lbs)
  • Adult (Chest Size 91-132cm)

Borrowing a Life Jacket

Life jackets are available from Victoria Day weekend (May) through Thanksgiving weekend (October).

Library Card Holders

Individuals who are eligible for a Kawartha Lakes Public Library card can borrow life jackets free of charge.

  • Loan period: 7 days.
  • First come, first served.
  • Holds and renewals are not available.
  • A waiver must be completed and signed each time a life jacket is borrowed.

Non-Residents (Rental)

  • Visitors and non-residents can rent life jackets for $5 per jacket.
  • Life jackets are available for 7 days
  • First come, first served
  • Life jackets not returned by the agreed-upon date are subject to an $80.00 per life jacket replacement fee.

Non-residents must complete the rental form before borrowing.

Returning Life Jackets

Life jackets must be returned during library open hours. Please return them to the library branch where they were borrowed. Late returns may affect future borrowing privileges. Life jackets not returned by the agreed-upon date or damaged are subject to an $80.00 per life jacket replacement fee.
