Get Creative This March Break: Free Family Fun at Your Library!

This March Break, families across Kawartha Lakes can get hands-on and creative at the library with “Make It March Break”, a week-long series of free programs designed for children and caregivers alike. From painting canvas bags and working with clay to creating glow jar lanterns, making beaded windchimes, decorating cookies, and building DIY puzzles, there’s something for every young maker to enjoy.

“These fun and interactive sessions give kids a chance to explore new skills, express their creativity, and stay engaged during the school break - all in a safe, welcoming space for the whole family” says Marieke Junkin, Manager of Programming and Public Services  “With programs running at all 14 library branches, it’s easy to join in close to home without the need for extra travel.”

Providing these programs at no cost is more than just fun -  it’s a real benefit for families and the community. Free access to hands-on activities helps children learn and explore, while parents and caregivers can enjoy a trusted, friendly space during the busy school break. The library serves as a hub for connection and learning across the municipality, supporting residents of all ages and backgrounds.

As a valued municipal resource, the library strengthens community ties, encourages lifelong learning, and enhances overall quality of life. By offering programs like “Make It March Break”, the Kawartha Lakes Public Library ensures that creativity, education, and fun are accessible to everyone, making this March Break a memorable one for families across Kawartha Lakes.
